S.O.U.L. CREW -- A NEW GENERATION

S.O.U.L. stands for Students of Unlimited Leadership and is the mantra of the  S.O.U.L. Crew. This course is an introduction to school leadership. S.O.U.L. is all about relationships: student-to-student and student-to-teacher.   Students will develop social and leadership skills to support school culture and community relations.

When young people are given the opportunity to rise to high expectations with support, guidance and structure they are able to meet goals that they once believed unattainable.

S.O.U.L. is about helping students who do not see themselves as leaders the opportunity with support from teachers, counselors, administration, community and parents to make a difference in their lives today so that their future will be bright.

Students of S.O.U.L.  are held to a high code of ethics and conduct.

S.O.U.L. students meet the challenges given to them academically head on with vigor and excitement.

The Birth of S.O.U.L.

S.O.U.L. began in 2000 as the idea of Chico High School teacher David McKay and his colleagues. It was their hope to help students in their community with navigating the struggles teens face at home, in their community and in high school. David McKay and Ken Williams met in 2006 as they collaborated with the Freedom Writers Foundation on creating teacher professional development that aligned with The Freedom Writers Diary and Methodology.
